Try this tip next time you are putting your rear wheel back on... While the axle is still loose, stick a rag between the sprocket and chain at the top of the sprocket and roll the wheel BACKWARD. This pushes your axle as far forward as it can go into the adjusters. Then I hold it there like that with my knee while I tighten the axle nut from behind the bike. Remember to roll the wheel back forward to take out the rag. Same perfect chain adjustment every time. Usually, if a log is big enough, I just ride around the end of it.A lot easier and better for your wheels.
